Sesame Cauliflower

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 1/4 cups unflavored parve milk
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 package Cauliflower Florets
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 2 cubes Crushed Ginger
  • 2 cubes Crushed Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • Toasted sesame seeds

Directions

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Coat bottom of a large roasting pan or oven-safe skillet with 1 tablespoon oil. In a small bowl, stir together milk, flour, salt and baking powder. Dip cauliflower florets in mixture and coat, shaking off excess batter. Arrange in a single layer in pan or skillet and bake for 10 minutes.

Meanwhile, combine soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, sesame oil, Simmer over medium heat for 10 minutes. Stir cornstarch and water together in small container until cornstarch is dissolved fully. Combine with soy sauce mixture and stir. Remove from heat. Remove Cauliflower Florets from oven and flip over. Brush florets lightly with the remaining tablespoon of oil. Return to oven for additional 5 until they begin sizzling and are lightly crisp. Remove from oven.

Pour sauce over florets and return to oven for another 3 to 4 minutes, until sauce becomes very sticky and coats florets. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Serve over rice if desired.
